We are dedicated to providing a safe, positive, and gentle grooming experience for every pet, as outlined in our Pet Grooming Service Menu. Unfortunately, we frequently find ourselves performing what we call "re-con work," which involves shaving a matted or heavily soiled pet down to the skin. This type of grooming is stressful for both the animal and our certified skilled animal care providers. It is dangerous, induces anxiety, and carries the risk of injury due to the severity of the pet's coat condition.
We understand that life can sometimes take priority over a pet's grooming schedule. However, there are essential daily and weekly practices that pet owners can and should perform at home to maintain their pet’s health between professional appointments:
Regular Brushing: Daily brushing prevents matting, which is a key focus of our De-shed Treatment mentioned in the service menu.
Routine Bathing: Even basic home bathing helps keep the coat clean.
Sanitary Wipes: Keeping sanitary wet wipes accessible helps to clean the area around the backside after the pet uses the bathroom
Regrettably, we are seeing the same individuals repeatedly bringing their pets in with severe, avoidable conditions. Due to this repeated negligence, we have implemented the following policy updates:
Additional Fees
A fee will be added to the cost of service under these conditions:
Second Occurrence of Severe Matting: If a pet comes in for a second time with matting covering their entire body.
Excessive Fecal Soiling: If a pet is covered in feces beyond the expected amount occasionally trapped in the fur surrounding the backside. The additional fee will be in the amount of $25 to $50 and will be added to the original service fee. This aligns with the Important Disclosure in our service menu regarding additional charges for matted cats and cats with feces in their coat.
In cases of extreme negligence or if a groomer feels it is genuinely unsafe to proceed with grooming, we reserve the right to refer the animal to a veterinarian.
Outcome: Referral to a vet will result in the owner being charged 50% of the service charge. This charge covers the time reserved for the appointment, similar to our deposit policy for reserved time blocks.
Goal: This action is taken purely in the interest of the animal's safety and well-being.
We ask for your partnership in the care and well-being of the animals that love and depend on us.
Let's work together to ensure they live healthy, happy lives.
